picture17Are wrinkles, brown spots, and fine lines among your biggest skin problems? If so, then one of your undying questions might be “What is the best anti aging cream?” According to some researchers, the best cream or lotion would be that which contain essential components of Vitamins C and E.

Sunscreen products are not enough…

There are many lotions and creams which supposedly protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun’s rays such as premature aging. However, recent studies showed that many sunscreen products which are being offered these days do not provide enough protection against the sun’s ultraviolet radiation.

In a study which was funded by the Cancer Research Foundation of America and the Skin Cancer Foundation, it was shown that most sunscreen products can only block up to 94% of the ultraviolet radiation emitted by the sun. As noted by Kerry Hanson, a postdoctoral research scientist from the Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamics of the University of Illinois, “the residual light that does penetrate the skin can create free radicals.”

These free radicals are responsible for many molecular damages. They can cause premature skin aging and create age spots, lines, and wrinkles. These components may also cause damages in the immune system and increase a person’s susceptibility to skin cancer. So, for those who you want to know what is the best anti aging cream? Hanson noted that products with Vitamins C and E are highly recommended.

The harmful effects of the ultraviolet rays

In the study, Hanson found out that the skin’s protective layer against the ultraviolet rays – stratum corneum – generates a high level of free radicals when exposed to sunlight.  “These free radicals caused considerable damage to both the cytoplasm and the lipid matrix,” she claimed. “The cytoplasm of the lower epidermis was also dramatically damaged.”

Apart from causing premature skin aging, severe exposure to ultraviolet rays causes a multitude of major illnesses. “Ultraviolet radiation is known to cause several forms of skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell cancer and deadly melanoma,” Hanson pointed out. Thus, if you are interested in the question “what is the best anti aging cream?” the best answer would be that which can effectively protect the skin from the ultraviolet rays.

The expert’s advice…

Typical cosmetic products with sunscreens do not offer enough protection against free radical damage. But, if you are eager to determine what is the best anti aging cream?, Hanson suggests that you look at the vitamin components of the product and determine if it has the following components – vitamin E acetate, vitamin E alcohol and sodium ascorbyl phosphate (vitamin C). Among these, the most effective ones are those which contain lots of Vitamin C components. “Vitamin C was by far the best quencher. Any free radicals that are generated will be quenched by the vitamin C stored in your skin.” Hanson explains.

  2. Ascorbic acid does a lot of things inside and outside the body. It boosts the immune system, protects the cells from free radical damage and it also smooths out the texture of the skin when used topically. I see to eat that i get my daily Vitamin-C from natural fruits juices plus ascorbic acid supplements.
