American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine: The Battle Against Aging
We have seen countless movies about the search for the fountain of youth and the quest for immortality. These stories fire up fantasies about living forever, or simply living a longer life. While it is a beautiful thing to imagine, the reality is that there is nothing that exists (or at least on Earth) so far that would lead us to long lasting youth. This is the reason why the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine was formed.
There are a number of ways that you can slow down the aging process but they can only do so much. Some of them are more natural than others such as exercise and a healthy diet but there are some diseases that make the aging process faster (some even are untreatable). The American Academy of Anti-aging medicine does research on medicine that would be able to cure such diseases, and give you a shot at a longer youthful life.
The A4M
The American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine (also known as A4M) was formed in the Early 90’s in Chicago. It was a founded at a meeting organized by Dr. Robert Goldman and Dr. Ronald Klatz. (Doctors of Osteopathic medicine). A year later, the newly founded A4M would organize conferences where a number of physicians would attend and discuss methods and medicine that help reduce the aging process. Later on, anti-aging would become a specialty and university students that attended their conferences were given educational credits.
Critics of A4M
There has been a lot of criticism on the published journal of the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine. They say that any product that has outrageous claims about reversing, stopping, or slowing the aging process could easily “prove” their claims by referring to the A4M journal. The critics claim that the International Journal of Anti-aging medicine is nothing but advertising for anti-aging products and that it isn’t a scientific journal.
Although the A4M faces a lot of criticism, they have still done a lot in terms of research in the field of anti-aging. You can expect criticism with every movement, especially if the for visionary claims. It is great that there are physicians that are dedicated to the battle against aging. Anti-aging encompasses not only the person’s physical appearance, but the functions of our internal organs as well. You can say that it is connected to the way we function in everyday life. If there was anyway that the process of aging could be stopped, reversed, or slowed down, then we would have no problems with the complications that aging gives. GP
